Hands and Scar occupational therapy is a specific and specialised area that enables clients to recover and improve their hand and/or upper limb function. In our work we address key debilitating areas of pain, mobility and functional limitations in the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder so that clients can maximise their independence.

Hands and scar therapy is beneficial for a variety of conditions affecting the hand and upper extremity, including:

> Injuries such as crush injuries, tendon and ligament tears, fractures and dislocations

> Nerve disorders like carpal tunnel syndrome and peripheral nerve injuries

>  Conditions like arthritis, tendonitis and Dupuytren's contracture

> Rehabilitation after surgery or trauma

>  Conditions affecting hand function due to neurological conditions such as stroke

>  Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS)

Our APPROACH

Our approach positions clients as active partners in their recovery, recognising that they often need to do important work themselves outside sessions. This collaborative model reflects a fundamental principle of occupational therapy: client engagement is the primary driver and determinant of successful outcomes.

Effective hand therapy centres on establishing meaningful rehabilitation goals that serve as stepping stones toward broader life goals related to home, leisure or work. We provide this intervention through a compassionate, supportive approach that inspires clients to appreciate and work toward their fullest recovery potential.
