complex trauma rehabilitation
When an individual experiences multiple injuries acquired in a traumatic event.
Often it can include multiple body functions and structures (including sensorimotor, psychosocial and cognitive), and can include orthopaedic injury, spinal injury, traumatic/acquired brain injury, amputation, burns and post-traumatic stress disorder.everyday living skills
Rehabilitate Therapy are very proactive and focused upon establishing what a person would like to achieve from their rehabilitation programme. We use a client centred measure called the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) to help assist our clients in looking at their living skills that can include anything from self-care (washing and dressing), productivity (work or house management) to leisure and recreation (fishing to blacksmithing).
We also look at how their body functions around their independent living skills.

self care
We assist clients in exploring their needs regarding self-care, and this can include activities such as personal care (washing dressing and feeding), functional mobility (how they transfer and mobilise to get from activity to activity) and community management (managing transportation, finances and shopping etc)
physical rehabilitation
Differences in our clients’ physical ability to participate in their functional activities are common, these can include muscle weakness, reduced range of movement and changes in neurological status, such as muscle tone. These can have a big effect on how our clients can participate in their everyday activities, within different environments; including home, school, work and social.
Our therapists look at how these body functions can limit a client in their activity and participations and build a bespoke rehabilitation programme, often in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team members.
productivity
We work with clients to consider their routine throughout the day, but particularly concerning areas of paid or unpaid work (vocational roles, sick leave or medical retirement), household management (cleaning, laundry and cooking for example) and learning, especially around to what level of study they achieved and if they consider relearning or returning to learning, due to their current situation. leisure
Leisure is a significant area and we facilitate the client to look at both quiet and often homebased recreation to much more active leisure that will feature how they participate in sports, outings, travel and holidays. Linked to this is importance, which is often a challenge after injury, of socialising with others, including family and friends. Loss of identify, relating to this, and also social isolation are common issues we work with clients regarding.
vocational rehabilitation
We see occupational therapy as inextricably linked to vocational rehabilitation; thus, all of our occupational therapists have skills that enable them to work with clients on vocational rehabilitation. We also have specialists in vocational rehabilitation, with extensive clinical and academic backgrounds, who champion vocational rehabilitation within Rehabilitate Therapy LTD and support / inspire wider colleagues. SEE VOCATIONAL REHAB
cognitive rehabilitation
We work with a client and their families to produce an individualised rehabilitation programme, often in collaboration with a neurological psychologist. The programme looks at specific cognitive skills linked with their function, and this can – typically – include specific cognitive training and education, practice and can include strategies our clients can use in their everyday skills. Key cognitive areas, focused upon, include attention (concentration), visual processing, information processing, memory and executive functioning. We facilitate self- awareness into their strengths and issues and how this can link with their behaviour. SEE ALSO NEUROLOGICAL REHABILITATION

vehicle assessment
We are widely experienced in identifying suitable vehicles for our clients, from the most appropriate standard vehicles, to adapted wheelchair accessible vehicles, motor homes and caravans. This is often carried out in conjunction with wheelchair assessments to ensure the best fit. We will visit dealerships with clients and undertake test drives to best ensure the right solution, however complex their needs. SEE ALSO EQUIPMENT AND ADAPTATIONS
