these are our 5 key areas of business

brain injury rehabilitation
Neurological Rehabilitation and in particular brain injury rehabilitation was the very beginning of Rehabilitate Therapy, back in 2005, given Dr Kate Heward’s own expertise at that time.
While our expertise and focus is now much wider, brain injury and neurological rehabilitation remains at the very centre of who we are as an occupational therapy service.

complex trauma
This is when an individual experiences multiple injuries acquired in a traumatic event.
Often it can include multiple body functions and structures (including sensorimotor, psychosocial and cognitive), and can include orthopaedic injury, spinal injury, traumatic/acquired brain injury, amputation, burns and post-traumatic stress disorder.

paediatric
We have a specialism in paediatric occupational therapy, and this involves supporting children and young people to achieve their full potential and to increase participation in daily life. We work with children who, for example, have cerebral palsy, brain injury, and spinal injury.
For a child / young person, their occupations can be grouped into 3 main areas: self-care, play, and productivity – which typically involves school. The use of GAS goals in a very graded way to target, and to report upon progress is an important underpinning strategy we use very effectively for the child / young person but also for family / carers / school, and members of the Multi Discplinary Team (MDT), to respond to changing needs.

housing, equipment and adaptations
Optimising a person’s environment is fundamental to being able to participate as fully as possible in the activities that are important to them, whether this is at work, at home or for leisure.
For clients, overcoming physical environmental barriers, through adaptations and the provision of equipment, is vital to their independence and ability to engage in desired occupations. We have specialists in this area and adopt a collaborative approach that is very person centred.
